Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Emergency Triage Units

We all saw how fast the Chinese could construct a massive hospital. If you don’t want a tent, Pareti offers a way to create individual rooms, hallways, and control centers with locking doors within hours. That means you can turn an existing building such as a stadium or empty warehouse into secure individual rooms.

Our walls can be drilled into, we can place conduit within them, you can hang shelves, televisions, monitors and more on them. Create a central physician’s area, and divide rooms from that. Create corridors and section off areas to provide break areas or sleeping areas for medical staff.

You can sketch a design and in most cases we can create it, or at least come very close to your concept.

Coronavirus is scary stuff. We understand that the greatest danger is faced by our health workers who will need to interview and treat people who may be infected with this dreaded virus. Some hospitals are finding one solution to triage for Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is to have an entirely separate entry for these triage patients. Our walls offer a portable, lockable, wind-resistant alternative to tents. They also allow staff to hang items like medical equipment or monitors, similar to real walls. Our walls arrive ready for setup, may be used indoor or out (with Tyvek or a water resistant covering). Seams may be taped with duct tape, gaff tape, or a high-adhesion masking tape. Walls may be painted if desired.

We normally make exhibit walls.

When painted, our walls are generally used for offices, exhibits, trade shows, and furniture stores.

We want to help if we can. Our walls are mainly used for exhibits, but we often create interior offices for customers. Pareti’s mobile walls can be used for creating immediate triage areas which can function more like regular rooms than tents. The walls can be subject to rainy weather for brief periods, but if rainy weather is anticipated they can be covered by stapling Tyvek, tarps or a similar water resistant material to the outside. These are sturdy and very fast solutions for creating structures quickly in internal or exterior spaces. Roofs may be crated by fastening tarps, corrugated plastic to the wood channels. Our walls may be screwed into, holes may be cut into them, and they can be nailed. In terms of a lock-able structure, Pareti’s mobile walls offer more security than a tent.

Maybe you need to hang things up, maybe you need to create hallways or rooms. Maybe you need a centralized office in a temporary building.

While tents go up quickly too, our walls set up just about as fast, but can be nailed or screwed into, which means you can hang emergency items or medical supplies directly on the walls, as well as heavier items like monitors.

Since the walls are made of interior wood studs and MDF cladding on both sides, your IT or electrical team can easily cut into the walls for placing power or data lines to and within the walls.

The Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is a frightening situation – but the real question is what are we going to do about it, and how can we can work together to solve this crisis, and prevent it from spreading if possible.

For some perspective, check out Joe Rogan’s podcast with Michael Osterholm, internationally recognized expert in infectious disease epidemiology. He is Regents Professor, McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Public Health, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, a professor in the Technological Leadership Institute, College of Science and Engineering, and an adjunct professor in the Medical School, all at the University of Minnesota.

One thing Michael Osterhom has discussed is the possibility that exhaled air is one of the main ways coronavirus is transmitted (“shared air”) even before those who are infected are not experiencing any symptoms. He suggests that places like cruise ships, enclosed spaces, placed with recycled air such as airplanes, or even hospitals, can cause this disease to continue to spread very quickly. Our walls give you the option to keep them open aired, or more air-tight, depending on how you decide to finish them on site.

build a hospital wing anywhere in hours office or hospital roomPareti is offering outdoor, hard wall Emergency Triage Units with tarped roofs if hospitals need outdoor triage areas to test incoming patients who suspect SARS-CoV-2. This will be offered as a priority item, at a deep discount for hospitals, military, or other Covid-19 purposes, and will be placed above other incoming orders to get the system to you as fast as possible.

Since these units are not entirely enclosed, outdoor air will still circulate unless areas are sealed at the base, roof and seams. While we can only guess what remedies are truly helpful, if outdoor open air helps keep our critically valuable medical personnel safe, this system offers a wind break while still allowing a breeze within the space.

  • Our portable triage units are amazingly fast to build (about an hour or less per 10 x 10 unit)
  • Can feature a locking, hollow core door for privacy or an area where a curtain may be hung
  • Constructed of rugged walls so medical equipment, shelving, supplies, flat screens and other items may be hung directly on the walls
  • lighting and electrical cord may be placed along the top channel, or conduit may be ordered within the system as per yours (or our) electrical engineer’s specifications. (Please note, while we can place conduit, wiring must be done on site by your licensed electrician).
  • The system can be disinfected, painted, or disposed of when no longer in use.

Our earnest prayers are with those who are infected around the world, and those courageous and committed health care workers who are on the front lines.
