Our modular walls provide homeowners with an alternative to conventional permanent construction. Unlike lightweight room dividers, folding screens or temporary partitions, Pareti wall systems use substantial wall sections that can create spaces with the appearance and feel of permanent interior architecture while remaining removable and reconfigurable.
A cozy den was created from a larger open space to as a recovery area, and then later as a space for use as a temporary bedroom, then back to a den.

We know this works in a residential setting because we’ve done it ourselves.
After Pareti founder Kathy Kyle underwent surgery, a comfortable recovery space was needed within her home. Rather than undertake a conventional remodel for what initially seemed like a temporary need, Pareti modular walls were used to create a private recovery room.
The design incorporated two KTK wall connections to an existing permanent wall on either end, a door section and custom curved walls that allowed the new room to comfortably accommodate a favorite leather couch and custom desk.
Once recovery was complete, the room didn’t become obsolete.
It became a comfortable space for Kathy’s mother, then later, back to a den and private home office—a place to work, watch television, read or simply enjoy some solitude.
The result demonstrates one of the greatest advantages of modular residential architecture: a space created for one chapter of life can serve an entirely different purpose in the next.
Not a Lightweight Room Divider
When we say “portable” or “modular,” we don’t mean flimsy.
Pareti originally developed wall systems for demanding commercial environments including museums, galleries, exhibits and other spaces where substantial wall construction matters.
Our residential applications bring that same philosophy into the home.
Pareti wall sections are designed to create substantial, usable spaces rather than simply provide visual separation. Depending upon the layout, residential installations may incorporate an appropriate combination of adjoining wall sections, engineered bases, counterbalance and secure connections to permanent wall studs.
Every room is different, which is why wall height, overall configuration, straight wall runs, corners, curved sections, doors, openings and intended use should all be considered when determining the appropriate stabilization method.

Stability Is Part of the Design
A beautiful room isn’t enough. It needs to be appropriately configured for its intended use.
Pareti can design modular wall layouts using L-shaped, T-shaped, curved and interconnected wall configurations that contribute to the overall stability of the installation.
Where a modular wall meets an existing permanent wall, our KTK connection system can provide a clean transition while allowing the modular installation to be appropriately connected to structural framing, such as permanent wall studs.
Freestanding configurations can incorporate appropriately designed bases and counterbalance.
The goal is to create a modular room that feels intentional and architectural—not like a temporary screen placed in the middle of your home.
Curved Walls Can Change the Entire Room
Who says a new room has to be a box?
Pareti’s custom curved walls can create softer, more interesting residential spaces while also solving practical floor-plan challenges.
A curved wall can provide additional clearance around furniture, improve traffic flow or create an inviting transition between the new room and the surrounding living space.

More Than Walls: Usable Vertical Space
One major difference between substantial modular walls and lightweight room dividers is what the wall itself contributes to the room.
Depending on the specific wall construction, installation and intended load, Pareti walls may accommodate artwork, displays, shelving, televisions or other wall-mounted elements, easily holding up to 100 lbs. of hanging weight, such as shelving.
This can make a modular room feel dramatically different from a space created with curtains, folding screens or decorative divider panels.

What About Building Codes and Permits?
Modular and removable does not mean building requirements can be ignored.
Local requirements vary, and creating sleeping rooms or other occupied spaces can involve regulations concerning emergency egress, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, electrical systems, ventilation, fire safety, accessibility and other building-code requirements.
Pareti modular walls are not structural or load-bearing walls and should not be used as a substitute for structural construction.
Homeowners should consult their local building authority or qualified professional when permits or code requirements may apply to their particular project.
